FAQ: Understanding the 2025 Entry Ban

Please read our updated comprehensive FAQ to help our communities and other policy advocates understand the implications of the updated 2025 Entry Ban. On December 16, 2025, the White House issued a second Entry Ban Proclamation expanding the countries listed in Proclamation 10949. The December 2025 update continues the restrictions from June 2025 (see below for a more comprehensive overview). It adds 7 countries to the list of countries subject to Full Restrictions suspending entry into the U.S., including 2 countries - Laos and Sierra Leone - who were previously included on the Partial Restrictions list from June 2025. The December Proclamation also subjects an additional 15 new countries to Partial Restrictions on entry.  Additionally, the December Proclamation sets full restrictions and entry limitations on individuals holding travel documents issued or endorsed by the Palestinian Authority, claiming that individuals with such documents cannot be properly screened and vetted for entry.

FAQ: Immigration Policy Updates in Response to DC National Guard Shooting

In the wake of the shooting of two members of the National Guard in Washington, D.C., the Trump administration announced several immigration policy changes to further its xenophobic agenda and impose collective punishment on immigrant communities. According to the New York Times, these new rules will impact more than 1.5 million individuals, and an additional 50,000 asylum seekers. We explain some of the changes announced by immigration agencies below. So far, most of the changes were announced by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which is the agency in charge of adjudicating affirmative immigration benefit applications. Because the situation is evolving rapidly, we do not know all the details of how these policy changes will be implemented and we expect that more policy changes may be announced soon.

Over 260+ Organizations Oppose the 2025 Entry Ban

We are proud to join over 260 organizations in a collective statement of solidarity against the racist 2025 Entry Ban announced by the Trump Administration. Led by Muslims for Just Futures and UndocuBlack Network, with support from Building Movement Project, this effort reflects broad, cross-movement resistance to a ban that targets 19 countries—predominantly Black, Brown, Muslim-majority, and Global South nations.

This ban is part of a long legacy of policies that separate families, criminalize entire communities, and restrict access to safety and opportunity. We reject this ban. We stand with those it harms. And we call on legal advocates, faith leaders, community care providers, and people of conscience to take action and show up in defense and solidarity.

Political Analysis

Executive orders and federal policies are often written in legal language that’s hard to understand — sometimes by design. This section breaks down what’s inside, what’s at stake, and how these policies impact our communities in real life. We focus on helping people make sense of new government actions so we can respond with clarity, care, and collective strength.
